Suggested Itineraries

One Week.

Rhodes & the central Dodecanese with one week at your disposal start your trip in Rhodes and allow at least three days to see this large and wonderfully varied island. Visit the medieval Old Town, take in a beach or two along the east coast and visit the Acropolis of Lindos and its picture postcard village. Forget the day trips to the island of Symi - spend at least one night there and enjoy its relaxed atmosphere and fine food once the day-trippers have gone back to Rhodes. Take a two-day excursion by catamaran to the little-visited and delightfully laid-back islands of Nisyros, with its dormant volcano, and Tilos, with its slow bucolic pace and relaxed, genuine lifestyle.

Two Week.

Rhodes, the Southern & Central Dodecanese compine the one-week itinenary with a visit to Karpathos and Kasos for excellent beaches, mountain villages and simple fishing ports. Allow at least four days to see both islands. Take a plane to Kastellorizo, the most remote of the dodecanese Islands, and spend two days on the small rocky island where the movie Mediterraneo was shot. If you can shave a day off your itinenary from elsewhere, spend a night or two on the peaceful island of Halki.

Three Week.

Rhodes, the Northern, Central & Southern Dodecanese. You won't get to see all the Dodecanese comfortably inb three weeks, so you'll have to tackle the islands in one of two ways. Perhaps start at Patmos, the island of St John, and visit the scattered islands of the Northern Dodecanese - Lipsi, Arki, Marathi, and Agathonisi. Allow a week for this. In the remaining two weeks work your way down to Rhodes via the central islands of Leros and Kalymnos. Take a detour, if possible, to the butterfly-shaped island of Astypalea with its Cycladic hill village and Venetian castle. Then chill out with some fine swimming, sunset-watching and dining in Southern Kos. Pick up Nisyros and Tilos along the way to Rhodes and choose from the remaining Southern Dodecanese islands according to taste and time. Alternatively, travel from south to north following the two-week itinerary and then visit at least Kalymnos, Leros and Patmos.
