From bustling "bar street" to the sophisticated new district around Arionos Square, the city of the Knights (Old or Medieval city) has developed into the island's nightlife centre. And beyond the medieval walls, too, the night-time map of the island shows something for everyone: fashion mainstream clubs in Ixia, Greek style "glenti"  in Ialysos, bar-hopping in old mansions in Lindos, all-day fun at the beach bars in Faliraki.

Sophisticated clubbing in the narrow medieval streets or no-holds-barred boozing in the company of blonde foreign girls? There are two many options when it comes to planning your nightlife in the town of Rhodes: Miltiadou St. in the Old Town, and Orfanidou St. in Niochori. The first is frequented by the island people themshelves and by Greek visitors; the second is the haunt of young foreign tourists, mostly English and Scandinavian. In recent years, however, clubbing in the old Town no longer begins and ends in Miltiadou Street - a new and friendlier district is growing up around Arionos Square in the imposing shadow of the old public baths.

 

Outside the walls of the Old Town, the scene is totally different: Irish pubs, neon signs, 70s atmosphere, cheap drinks and blond youngsters wandering, beer in hand, from bar to bar. The local crowd prefers the Boulevard, for the first drink of the evening, and the colorado, a unique with three stages.

The large fashion mainstream clubs, including the hot ethnic Taj Mahal are outside the city altogether, on the Ixia road. Closer to Ialysos are one of the country's top clubs, the Cavo Tango with its Cycladic islands style courtard and fanatical patrons, and several more popular Greek live places, like Astra and Melody Palace.

 

Nightlife in Faliraki and Lindos is geared to the tastes of the Brithish tourists who make up the overwhelming majority of visitors to these areas. Faliraki is dominated by large clubs with guest and foreign Djs and Irish-style pubs.

In Lindos, all the old captain's houses that have been converted into bars have screens showing satellite sports channels. The atmosphere is very different from the bars in the medieval town - the target groups are totally different. 

Gennadi is the up-and coming party district the whole island flocks to the Sunday parties at the beach bars.

Afandou lately developed beach bars and big parties takes place several times during the summer season. Beach bars and parties, becoming ever more popular.
